Our Staff

Pastor LeeDr. A. Lee Zehmer, Pastor
Dr. Zehmer is a graduate of James Madison University, Union Seminary, and Columbia Theological Seminary. Before coming to First Presbyterian, he served as Associate Pastor for five years at the Lexington Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Virginia, and as Pastor at Bethlehem Church outside of Charlotte, North Carolina for 9 years.

Lee and his wife, Brooke, have three daughters. Lee's interests include playing the guitar, amateur radio, swimming, and computers.

 
Donna HurtDonna Hurt, Director of Christian Education & Formation
Donna graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She taught high school math for many years, until she felt the call to church ministry. Choosing to follow this call, Donna returned to school at Union-PSCE in Richmond, Virginia, to earn a Master of Arts in Christian Education. She has served as a church educator since graduating in 1995, and at this church since 2006. A mother of three grown children and four young grandchildren, Donna enjoys time with family, reading, and needlework.

 
Jo Ann PostonDr. Jo Ann Poston, Director of Music
Dr. Poston holds a Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University, and the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She formerly served as conductor of the Lexington Choral Society and is a retired faculty member of Davidson County Community College.

Jo Ann is married to Sonny and has a grown daughter.

 
Connie BurlesonConnie Burleson, Organist
Connie holds an Associate of Arts degree from Wingate College, a Bachelor of Music degree from Meredith College, a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and her Handbell Certification from Queen's College.

Connie has served as Vice President and President of the Salisbury Music Club. She is a music teacher for Davidson Academy. She is a past President of the Meredith College Alumnae Organization of Salisbury and was organist for Meredith College's Alumnae Weekend in 2003. She has received the Most Outstanding Music Award from Wingate College and has served as an accompanist for the N.C. Lutheran Synod Workshops.

Connie is married to Lanny, and they have two daughters, Ashley and Meredith.

 
Lynnae BentonLynnae Benton, Children's Choir Director
Lynnae earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations with a minor in Marketing from Appalachian State University. She has served as a Kindermusik Educator for Kindermusik of Davidson County, has been a member of Lexington Choral Society, and is currently a member of The Charity League of Lexington. She has served as both a Deacon and as the moderator of FPC's Presbyterian Women.

Lynnae is married to Blake, and they have two lovely daughters.

 
Jeanna Carlton, Office Manager
Jeanna holds an A.A.S. in Paralegal Technology, as well as a Certificate in Microcomputer Systems Technology, from Davidson County Community College. She received her A+ certification in computer software and hardware installation and maintenance in July, 2000. Her hobbies include website design, reading, writing, music, and art. She spends much of her free time spoiling her dogs.
