Dr. A. Lee Zehmer, Pastor
Dr. Zehmer is a graduate of James Madison University, Union Seminary in Va., and Columbia Theological Seminary. Before coming to First Presbyterian in 2005, he served as Associate Pastor for five years at the Lexington Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Virginia, and as Pastor at Bethlehem Church outside of Charlotte, North Carolina for 9 years.

Lee and his wife, Brooke, have three daughters. Lee’s interests include playing the guitar, amateur radio, swimming, and he is a certificated private pilot.

Meredith Trout, Director of Christian Education & Formation
Meredith has a degree in Religion from Presbyterian College. Before coming to Lexington in 2011, she served for four years on the educational staff of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. She worked with middle school youth and families, and with the larger staff, she helped train lay leaders in transformational ministry.

Meredith has been serving as DCE/F at First Lexington since December of 2011. She is married to Roland Trout and they have three boys – Rory, David, and James. She enjoys teaching aerobics at the local YMCA and spending time with her friends and family.

Shelley Jennings, Director of Music

Shelley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Salem College and a Master of Music degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has served as Director of Music at Lebanon United Methodist Church in High Point, NC for ten years. Shelley is also the part-time lower school music teacher at Westchester Country Day School. Prior to teaching at Westchester, she was an elementary music teacher for Davidson County Schools, serving mainly the West Davidson area. Shelley is married to Dustin, a professional trumpet player and middle school band director. They have a young son.

Connie Burleson, Organist
Connie holds an Associate of Arts degree from Wingate College, a Bachelor of Music degree from Meredith College, a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and her Handbell Certification from Queen’s College.

Connie has served as Vice President and President of the Salisbury Music Club. She is a music teacher for Davidson Academy. She is a past President of the Meredith College Alumnae Organization of Salisbury and was organist for Meredith College’s Alumnae Weekend in 2003. She has received the Most Outstanding Music Award from Wingate College and has served as an accompanist for the N.C. Lutheran Synod Workshops.

Connie is married to Lanny, and they have two adult daughters and six grandchildren.
