LOCAL MISSIONS SUPPORT
Many of the community outreach programs in Lexington rely, not only on monetary donations from churches such as First Presbyterian and individual community members, but also on volunteers and community-wide involvement. Many of First Presbyterian’s members give of their time and abilities to help these vital programs along.

First Presbyterian faithfully supports these community outreach programs and services:
- Davidson County First Hope Ministries (formerly Crisis Ministry of Davidson County)
- Davidson County Cancer Services, Inc.
- Davidson Medical Ministries Clinic
- Davidson Prison Ministry
- Family Services of Davidson County, Inc.
- Grace Episcopal Church Sunday Lunch
- Hospice of Davidson County
- Home Solutions of Davidson County, Inc. (formerly Lexington Housing CDC)
- Meals on Wheels
- Pastor’s Pantry
- The Life Center
- Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry

In addition to financially supporting the above agencies, our congregation has made special commitments as follows:
Davidson County First Hope Ministries (formerly Crisis Ministry)
1. We provide volunteers who will cook, deliver, and serve an evening meal to the homeless shelter on the third Wednesday night of every month throughout the year.
2. We provide male volunteers who will spend a night at the homeless shelter on the third and fourth Wednesdays of each month, arriving about 6:00 p.m. or soon after and departing the next morning at 7:00 a.m.
3. We ask all members of the congregation to bring jelly to a collection point at the church, with the goal of delivering 125 jars monthly for the ministry to give to those in need.
Grace Episcopal Church Sunday Lunch
We will send at least four volunteers to serve the homeless a prepared lunch each Sunday during the months of March and August.
Pastor’s Pantry
We also collect cans of mixed vegetables for the Pastor’s Pantry Senior Food Bank, along with plastic grocery bags. Our goal is to collect 125 cans of mixed vegetables each month.
Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry
We collect pop-top, easy to open cans of ready to eat items for Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, to be distributed to the homeless in our community, who usually do not possess either a can opener or a means to heat or cook food.
