Rev. Dr. Nancy Jo Dederer, Transitional Pastor
The Rev. Dr. Nancy Jo Dederer is a life-long Presbyterian who grew up in Sylvania, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo. She graduated from Alma College (Alma, MI) with her B.A. in Speech and Theatre and certification for Secondary Education. She attended Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained in August 1991. In 2007 she received her Doctor of Ministry degree in Parish Revitalization at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL. While in the Chicago area, she chaired the presbytery’s Stewardship & Financial Development team for four years. Over the past decade Nancy has focused her ministry on church transformation, working with congregations to discover their calling as disciples of Jesus and develop deeper connections to their community with meaningful, relevant ministry.
Nancy’s husband Chris has been the Organist and Director of Children’s Music at Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro since the summer of 2017. Nancy and Chris have a son, Andrew, who recently moved to Nevada. Nancy enjoys music, theatre, traveling, and Scrabble.

Shelley Jennings, Director of Music

Shelley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Salem College and a Master of Music degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has served as Director of Music at Lebanon United Methodist Church in High Point, NC for ten years. Shelley is also the part-time lower school music teacher at Westchester Country Day School. Prior to teaching at Westchester, she was an elementary music teacher for Davidson County Schools, serving mainly the West Davidson area. Shelley is married to Dustin, a professional trumpet player and middle school band director. They have a young son.
Jack Harman, Director of Contemporary Worship
Jack is a native of Lexington. He graduated from Lexington Senior High School, and went on to attend Davidson County Community College. He is a graduate of the Musician’s Institute for Guitar, with honors. He also received a BSBA from the University of Phoenix, where he was a member of their Honor Society. Jack moved to Las Vegas where he worked as a table games dealer for the Paris Resort for 10 years. While there, he received awards for excellence in customer service for 9 consecutive years. Jack is also a professional musician.
Matthew Cates, Director of Contemporary Worship
Matt is an avid pianist, organist, harpsichordist, and composer and has studied and performed extensively in Europe. He has seen extensive venues across the United States and Europe, performing at the Washington National Cathedral, Duke University, Église de La Madeleine, Église Saint-Eustache de Paris, St. Bernard de La Chapelle, La Chapelle Royale de Versailles, The American Cathedral of Paris, and Notre Dame d’Auteuil, among others. In addition, he has performed at exclusive venues, including concerts in Palm Beach, Florida, as well as a “Class of 1936 Distinguished Organ Recital” at the West Point Military Academy in New York.
Matt is a current student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, where he received his high school diploma in 2018 and expects to graduate with his bachelor’s degree in 2022. Beyond music, Matt enjoys most things in God’s creation. He loves fishing, hunting, hiking, art, and food.
