YOUTH GROUPS

For nearly four decades, First Presbyterian Church has excelled in a lay-led youth ministry program for all 6th through 12th graders. Our youth advisors are committed to providing the most fun and the most meaningful ministry to our youth.
We have two youth groups:

 Acts Alive

High school youth usually meet for an hour on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. during the school year. Activities range from group discussions to movies to games to service projects in the community (such as collecting food for Pastor’s Pantry). There is also a winter ski weekend and often a fall retreat, plus a very meaningful summer mission trip. Not long after this trip, the youth lead a Sunday morning worship service to share their experiences with the church family. Many youth participate in Acts Alive who are not members of our church, so this program has a strong outreach effect.

Young Disciples

This middle school-aged group meets during the school year from 5:00 to 6:00 on Sunday evenings. Programs include fellowship activities, outreach opportunities (such as CROP Walk and Souper Bowl of Caring), group discussions, visiting older church members, hosting a baked potato lunch (fundraiser for the Acts Alive summer mission trip), and providing an Easter egg hunt for the children of the church. The group also enjoys occasional day trips and an end-of-the-year beach weekend.
